How to Join MailArtWorld.com
We are an exclusive trading group for artists who have experience in making creative, thoughtful and original ATCs or other art. This group is for people who have been creating in their chosen media for quite some time and exhibit a further stage in artistic development and skill.
All potential members must submit a URL (web address) to their art. Your art will be viewed by our art panel, consisting of 7 members, who will vote either yes or no for acceptance. Acceptance is based on skill in their preferred medium and basic art principle such as colour and composition etc. This is a group for experienced artists and we want our members to reflect that experience and skill in their art.
If you're still learning to perfect a medium, then this probably isn't the place for you. No one wants to hurt anyone else's feelings by denying membership or being an 'art snob' but our members have reached a certain skill level with their art through years of practice, sweat, time and effort and want to trade for artwork that reflect the same effort and skill. Many of the members here are also members of other trading forums or Yahoo/MSN groups where there are no membership requirements so there are plenty of other opportunities to trade for their cards at open forums. If you look through our gallery, you will see the level of art that is accepted here and that should give you an indication of whether or not you will fit in here. Please don't be afraid to try.
It is important that you have 7 - 10 art pieces in your gallery for our art panel to view and fill in your ‘preferred medium’.

This is what we are seeking in the artwork of potential members:
- Consistency: Consistent quality of work is very important to panel members. It demonstrates to us that you maintain a consistent standard of artistry and craftsmanship in your work.• Media Specific Criteria: As this is a multi media site, with specialists of many media styles we also look at certain criteria for the preferred medium. For example – Fabric/Textile Arts has its own unique criteria – Is the stitching neat? Etc.

- Originality: We like to see original work. A new take on an old theme, innovative interpretations etc. We love the diversity of individual styles!
- Composition: A card is not always successful if the well drawn elements are not well placed or thought out. It is important to design an interesting placement of elements within a card, and this is good 'composition.'
- Color: Beautiful work can be created in black and white, but a good sense of how to use color within your work is also important. We look for strong color compositions, and good color usage.
- Craftsmanship: You may wonder what craftsmanship has to do with art, but it can be important. Is the card the right size? Is the work clean? Is the back nicely finished? In other words, we look for care taken with the craft of creating the card.
